Michael Carr, of Carney, County Sligo, formerly of Mountcharles and Bruckless. He passed away peacefully on 21 July 2025, in the compassionate care of The North West Hospice, surrounded by his devoted family.
Early Life and Roots in West Ireland
Born and raised amid the rugged beauty of Mountcharles and Bruckless, Michael Carr embodied the warmth and resilience of rural Irish life. His formative years were shaped by hard work and community spirit—values he carried with him throughout his life, influencing his approach to family, friendship, and service.
Family: The Heart of His Life
Michael was predeceased by beloved siblings Paddy, James, Peter, Bridie, and Molly. Their memories remained ever-present in his life, a testament to the strong family bonds he treasured.
He is deeply mourned by his sons, Alan (and wife Jackie) and Eugene (and wife Patricia), and his daughter Brenda, whose husband Brendan predeceased her. He was a grandfather to ten grandchildren—Conor, Pauric, Michael, Freda, Brenda, Cahir, Aisling, Oisin, and Soracha—who brought him immense joy and purpose. His partner Anne, extended family, neighbours, and a close circle of friends also grieve the loss of a steadfast presence in their lives.

Michael was known for his unwavering dedication to family and community. He supported his children and grandchildren in school, sports, and life’s everyday milestones. Though not seeking accolades, his generosity and reliability endeared him to those around him. In recent times, Michael faced his final chapter with quiet courage. At The North West Hospice, he was surrounded by familiar faces and gentle compassion. The hospice staff’s dedicated care provided comfort as he prepared to say his final farewells.
Funeral Arrangements

Reposing: Wednesday, 2–9 pm, at the home of his son Alan and daughter-in-law Jackie, 7 Blue Stack Drive, Letterbarrow, F94 P8R9.

Funeral Mass: Thursday morning at 10 am departure to the Church of Saint Joseph and Saint Conal, Bruckless, with Mass at 11 am.

Burial: Immediately following in the adjoining cemetery.
